Photocopy of the book West of the Alleghenies, compiled in 1961 by Harold W. Black, containing genealogical information about the related Hopwood, Gaddis, Norris, and Farmer families. Provides a narrative history of the families of John Hopwood (1745-1802) of Dumfries, Virginia; Thomas Gaddis (1736-1830) of Winchester, Virginia; William Norris of Maryland and then Monongalia County, Virginia (now West Virginia); and John Farmer (1749-1810) of Winchester, Virginia, as well as a family tree. Material covers the years 1700-1961.
