This collection primarily concerns Clara Louise Walde Lawrence's career as a nurse in the period before, during, and after World War I. Materials in the collection include correspondence, scrapbooks, diaries, photographs and negatives, pamphlets, medical supplies, and other publications. Most of the correspondence, photographs, and publications relate to either WWI or nursing. Notable correspondents include a letter from Julia Cherney (Bateman) to Clara Walde while serving as a missionary in China. Other items of interest include a 1763 Boston Gazette as well as several 19th century American newspapers. The collection also includes Lawrence's Veterans Administration account books from the 1930s.

Papers, 1920s-1941, of Coral Patridge of New York, New York. Includes a travel diary of a trip she took by train from New York to New Mexico in the 1920s. Also includes 29 photographic prints, 9 of which feature New York City; some of the photographs also have descriptive information on the back. There is also an address book, a postcard sent from Germany, and a card with the history of the name "Patridge."

Diary, 1890, of Daniel J. Smith of Aultman, Ohio on a trip to Corvallis, Oregon. Includes the names of hotels at which Smith stayed, his expenses during the course of his trip, conditions of the roads on which he traveled, and the names and addresses of people that he met along the way. Also included is discussion of local politics in various locations which Smith visited.

This collection contains four diaries written by Danny Williams, a gay African American man and theater student from Robbins, Illinois, and Chicago. The diaries are bound volumes, the smallest measuring about 6 inches and the largest measuring 11 inches, including a total of 637 manuscript pages, with entries written in pencil and various colored inks. Williams kept the diaries from 1975 to 1979, while a student at the Goodman School of Drama in Chicago, and his time immediately after graduating. The diaries provide a look at the experience and struggles of being a Black and gay man in late twentieth-century Chicago. Williams' diaries chronicle his struggles with his multiple identities, racial, sexual, and personal, as he made his way in theater school and life. Williams sought a way to accept and love himself for who he was, but struggled with shame and guilt because of his sexual orientation. He was only out in the African American gay community, not in school, and not with his mother and siblings. These struggles resulted in bouts of depression, panic attacks, and substance abuse. Williams describes his efforts to overcome these issues, improve his craft as an actor, and find roles in the Chicago theater world.
