This collection includes the personal papers of Thomas Graves mostly in the form of appointment books, travel diaries, and personal correspondence. Box 1 holds appointment books of Thomas Graves from the 1960s through the 1990s. Box 2 holds cards, personal notes, and a travel diary of Andrew Graves. Box 3 holds scrapbooks from Graves' time as president of the College of William and Mary. Box 4 holds travel diaries beginning in the 1960s. Finally, the contents of box 5 books and miscellaneous items.

The Thomas A. Stevenson papers consist of the papers (five items) Stevenson, including:

• Three letters (1860) from Stevenson (known as Andrew) to his sister Maria Stevenson in which he discusses the possibility of war, the celebration of Washington's birthday, and war preparation activities at VMI following the announcement of Virginia's secession
• One Confederate War Department visitor's pass (dated November 11, 1861) that allows Maria Stevenson to travel to Norfolk, Virginia
• One letter (dated March 27, 1862) that introduces Stevenson to Major Taylor and recommends him for drillmaster duties

This collection (57 items) consists of letters written by Cadet Thomas B. Booth to his future wife, Agnes S. Lyon of Petersburg, Virginia. All of the letters were written from VMI, where Booth was a cadet from 1855 to 1858, and contain largely personal news.

The Thomas B. Davis papers contain two items. The first is a letter (dated March 22, 1863) from Davis to his sister, Camillus Christian. This letter was written while Davis was a cadet at VMI. In this letter he mentions activities at VMI, Civil War news ("a considerable cavalry fight on the Rappahannock"), the unusual late snows, and provides an early use of the term "rat" as a reference to new cadets ("The legislature is still cutting up about our maltreating the new cadets, or as we call them, Rats....says that we are a set of precocious youths who came here to avoid conscription"). The second item is a VMI cadet account book containing school expenses.

This collection consists of one letter (dated February 17, 1862) from Thomas B. Tredway to his father, William Marshall Tredway of Chatham, Virginia. Thomas discusses VMI's daily academic routine, the food served to cadets (beef, molasses, bread, and butter), regulations, and mentions that the cadets have offered their services to Governor John Letcher.

Letter, 13 September 1856, of Thomas Buchanan Read, Liverpool [Eng.] to Mrs. [?] Gray concerning his voyage to England, the 1856 United States presidential election (his support for Fremont) and letter, 10 Aug[us]t 1871, of Read, Rome [Italy] to [?] Gray, concerning Read's painting and religion.

Letters of Thomas C. Douglass, 1941-1946, relating to World War II. Letters to his wife Suzanne Lyon Wallace Douglass (1922-1999) concern family issues and war news and include descriptions of his medical practices and financial dealings.

Contains 19th and early 20th century British and American theater memorabilia, including autographs of major actors, writers, and managers; and letters, broadsides, and photographs.
