This collection, Acc. 1980.121, consists of 1 box of biographical material, photostats and transcripts of correspondence, and discourses, including one on the death of George Washington. This collection details the history of the Offley Family from 1826 to 1916 through correspondences, diaries, photographs and personal effects. Its creators include multiple generations of Offleys and their associates. The papers provide insight into the daily life of the era as well as major geopolitical events such as the Greek War of Independence, the Spanish-American War, the Philippine-American War, the 1906 San Francisco Earthquake, and World War I. Many of the Offleys served in the United States armed forces. The collection also includes photographs of individuals unrelated to, but, of the same era as, the Offley Family.

Papers, 1727-1918, chiefly 1781-1875, of members of the related Overton, Ragland, Claybrooke and Hart families of Louisa County, Va. and Haywood Co., Tenn. The early papers are primarily legal documents, accounts and account books of John Ragland and Samuel Ragland and correspondence of the children of Samuel Ragland. After 1797, the collection concerns the legal and business papers of Samuel Overton, Thomas Overton, Waller Overton and Sally Overton Claybrooke. After 1810, the collection concerns the Claybrooke family in Tennessee.

Correspondence and papers of members of the Page and Saunders families. Includes correspondence of Margaret Lowther Page of "Rosewell," Gloucester County, Va. and Williamsburg, Va. with her daughter Lucy Burwell Page Saunders and her son-in-law Robert Saunders. The collection includes a diary, 1826, of Robert Saunders while on a trip from New York to Le Havre; published stories of Lucy Burwell Page Saunders; manuscript stories by Roberta Saunders; and correspondence of Robert Page Saunders. There are references to Benjamin Stoddert Ewell and to the College of William and Mary in the papers; a letter, 16 February 1816, written by William Wirt to Robert Saunders; and letters from Sally M. Galt of Williamsburg.

This collection consists of documents (1855-1924) related to various members of the Patton Family. Primary subjects are the three individuals named George S. Patton (father, son, and grandson) all of whom attended VMI. The papers include:

This collection comprises letters sent primarily to and from Annie and Nellie Pease. They are from local friends and schoolmates as well as members of the Pease family who are situated for the most part in Bangor and Cornish, Maine. The letters deal with the personal lives of a close social network of young girls and their families who stay in touch after their graduation from school. The subjects of the letters range from classes, teachers and vacation plans to what is going on in the local community concerning deaths, weddings, and travel. A detailed examination of these letters reveals information concerning the school life and education of young, nineteenth-century women as well as their own experiences of teaching. Moreover, there are details as to what books were popular, from Caesar to Cicero and Dickens to Emerson, as well as to what subjects were being taught and how the girls responded to them; botany, natural history, and flower collecting are frequently mentioned.

Papers and photographs, 1871-1913, bulk 1873-1904, of the Peebles, Watson and Arrington families of Norfolk and Petersburg, Va. Includes letters, primarily from Joseph Littleton Peebles to Kate S. Watson during their courtship and marriage. Also includes genealogical notes. The Peebles farm is a part of the Petersburg National Battlefield Park.

This collection consists of three letters. Two are addressed to Jane Pendleton and one s addressed to Gordon Pendleton. There is a letter dated January 4, 1867 written to Jane by her aunt, M. A. Adams. She writes about her financial situation and family matters. Another was written to Jane by her brother-in-law William Pendleton dated February 2, 1879. it consoles her on the death of her long-time husband. The letter to Gordon was written by his brother, A. W. Pendleton in Warsaw, Virginia and is dated February 23, 1857.

The collection contains papers ranging in date from 1872 to 2002 documenting the Person family. Materials includes account books including those of both Charles Person and William Person, Sr. Other papers and photographsd illustrate family life in the city of Williamsburg, Virginia in the early-to-mid 1900s. Artifacts, including fans, Williamsburg Laundry thermometer and a charcoal drawing of a residence are also included.

Papers of the Goelet family of Amsterdam and New York, N. Y. Includes invoice, 1762, of Jacob Goelet at Amsterdam; and letters, 1763-1779, to Peter Goelet from merchants in Bristol and London, England (including Quakers), concerning goods, finances, and the American Revolution. Also includes receipt, 1879, signed by John Adams Dix; letter, 1882, from Henry V. Poor concerning routes of travel from Terre Haute [Ind.] to New York City; copy of letter of G. F. R. Henderson concerning Richard S. Ewell and a commonplace book, 1793-1861; grant for a War of 1812 service and a 1777 pardon of John Earle by George III.
