Amelia's memory album and book of handwritten verse, approximately 6.5" x 4.75" brown leather bound with gilt decorated borders on covers and title on spine. It has marbled end papers. There are 46 pages used for inscriptions, verse, and literature, with a few dates in the range of 1823-1832.

The family papers of Corie Lynn Dorset Rivers include over 140 separate letters and other manuscript documents handed down to Rivers by her mother, Corie Lynn Slater Dorset. This collection includes papers written by several generation of Williamsburg, Virginia residents, including Lucy Ludwell Paradise; James and Louisa Bellett Lee and family; and Virginia Lee and Parkes Slater and family.

This collection contains a bound volume of manuscript poems written and compiled by Eliza Ellen [Davidson] Johnston. The presentation page is inscribed as folllows " A common place book presented to Eliza Ellen Davidson by her Affectionate Mother on the 4th of June 1826, Greenbrier Virginia." A bound volume of unlined pages divided into two sections, hand-paginated with exception of final 30+ pages. This volume contains many poems written by Davidson, with her name and date at the end of most. Examples include those dedicated to the "orphans" on page 53 and 90, sorrows of young days on page 69, Mother's grave on page 32, Child to his young dead mother page 18. There are also poems from various poets copied from different publications.Tipped in the front of the book is a typed note and handwritten notes. Papers, circa 1810s-1830s, of Gustavus Depp and Elmore Depp of Powhatan and Chesterfield Counties, Virginia. The collection includes two commonplace books and two ledgers. The commonplace books are both collections of different principles and rules of higher mathematics including geometry, trigonometry, calculating interest, among others. The commonplace book belonging to Gustavus Depp focuses much more heavily on geometry than the one owned by Elmore Depp. Both books contain inscriptions on the first page citing the date of acquisition as February 2, 1818. The common book belonging to Gustavus Depp also includes a number of other instances of his name throughout the book including the inscription which reads, "Gustavus Depp commenced going to Jordan Marten to learn mathematick 5th April 1824. Then you may see my hand & name whene I am dead." The end of the volume contains ledgers as well as "A Delicious Apple Pudding" recipe.

This collection consists of one volume. An elaborate sketched title "Mary C. Jones Album," is the first page used; 79 pages used for hand-written inscriptions, verse, and literature, including some calligraphy. Signatures from Providence, "Washington Ball," and New York. The inscriptions are mostly addressed to "Caroline." Marbled paper over boards with red leather spine and red leather board edges; red leather label with gilt stamped name "Mary C. Jones" on the front cover.

This collection contains a friendship album belonging to Pamelia Jenne of Charlton, Massachusetts. The album, a copybook, "Sold by Samuel Wood & Sons, New York," is here used as a friendship album. It contains thirty-eight pages of manuscript and one watercolor of flowers. Included are original and copied verse by a series of friends, many with several entries.

Sarah Stoughton commonplace book filled with hand-written sentiments, poems, and inscriptions, with many signed and dated. There is genealogical information, relating to Reverend Jonathan Edwards of East Windsor, Connecticut, including "John Ellsworth married Anne Edwards daughter of Reverend Timothy Edwards, and sister of Reverend Jonathan Edwards. Their children were John, Frederick, Solomon, and Anne..." Later in the genealogy notes, "Sarah married John, son of Lemeul Stoughton..." Family names include Wetmore, Ellsworth, Bartlett, and Lockwood.

The Thruston family commonplace book (1604-1925; 0.03 cubic feet) documents the family history of the Thruston family of Bristol and Virginia, with early records concerning Martin's Hundred, Virginia, a plantation on the north shore of the James River, first settled in 1638. The manuscript opens with an "Epistle dedicatory" dated 25 October 1628 by Abell Louering, addressed to Robert Rogers, Esq., whose wife was present at the baptism of John Thruston's son John. The manuscript then passes to John Thruston, Chamberlain of Bristol (1606-1675), son of Malachais Thurston of Wellington. Thurston had 16 children with his first wife, Thomasine Rich. Their various births, deaths, and marriages are recorded here, including the birth of son Edward in 1638. Dr. Edward Thurston began writing in the book in 1666, and his entries contain the first reference to Virginia in the manuscript.

Papers, primarily 1770-1907, of the Tucker and Coleman families of Williamsburg, Winchester, Lexington, Staunton and Richmond, including papers of: St. George Tucker (1752-1827), Nathaniel Beverley Tucker (1784-1851), Henry St. George Tucker (1780-1848), Ann Frances Bland (Tucker) Coalter (1779-1813), John Coalter (1769-1838), and John Randolph of Roanoke (commonplace book is in box 64B), as well as other family members.
