Abstract Or Scope

This collection contains black and white as well as color prints, negatives, and slides of photographs collected by the William & Mary Alumni Association for various events on the William & Mary campus. The bulk of the photographs concern events related to Homecoming including the parade, class reunions, and the Sunset Ceremony. The collection also contains photographs of Commencement, athletic events, photographs produced for the Alumni Gazette and other publicaitons, as well as the retirement ceremony for former president Davis Y. Paschall.

David G. Blood Slide Collection, 1960/1981

The collection consists of ten color slides. Eight slides are of William & Mary's 1961 and 1964 commencement ceremonies and were taken by George Blood, David Blood's father. David Blood was in the W&M Choir and required to attend the 1961 ceremony. The remaining two slides are of the Wren building and Robertson's windmill within Colonial Williamsburg, respectively. The Wren image was taken by David Blood in 1960, and the windmill was taken by David Blood in 1981.

Papers of the William George and Gladys Bennett Guy family of Williamsburg, Virginia with additions from Joan Eastman Bennett. Includes correspondence, invitations, minutes, clippings, oral histories, notebooks, reports, photographs, written memories, essays and printed materials. Papers include items about water and gas, Williamsburg Landing, American Red Cross, Williamsburg United Service Organization, Williamsburg Female Academy, College of William and Mary and zoning regulations. Includes ephemera of Williamsburg, Virginia and personal material and correspondence of the Bennett Family and Guy Family of Williamsburg, Virginia. The original accession was received in 1985 with additions added through 2011.

The collection includes awards and certificates of appreciation from organizations such as the Alumni Society, Circle K, Omicron Delta Kappa; photographs of Lambert with staff and students, as well as many College events such as Commencement, Parents Day, and ROTC Summer Camp; and a copy of a Commencement program from 1927 when Lambert graduated from William and Mary with a Bachelor of Arts degree. The collection also contains a scrapbook including photographs, clippings, and other publications concerning the service of J. Wilfred Lambert to the College of William and Mary.

Virginia Forwood Pate papers, 1962/1995

The collection is comprised of the personal papers of William & Mary alumnus of 1940, Virginia Forwood Pate. The materials in the collection relate to Pate's active involvement with class of 1940 alumni activities, mainly the Society of the Alumni, the class of 1940 fiftieth reunion, the class of 1940 merit scholarship. Also included in the collection is general correspondence, issues of the Parcel Print, newsclippings related to William & Mary, and a vinyl record recording of a 1959 performance by the William & Mary Choir.
