This collection contains a small quarto (9 1/8 X 7 1/2 inches) of over a hundred caricatures created by Ange Denis M'Quin (Ange-Denis Macquin) (1756-1823). A pen and ink manuscript title page that reads "A Series of Heads by A.D.M." with a roundel of sixteen heads is dated at the lower right-hand corner, "June 1819." An index follows with four handwritten pages and then a sub-title page, "A congeries of heads, May 1819," with a quote from Macbeth and an illustration of heads drawn together as a sphere.

Original drawings by three notable cartoonists created for inclusion in the "It's an Outrage" section of the 1959 VMI yearbook. The three artists produced VMI-themed versions of the comic strips Dennis the Menace, Steve Canyon, and Beetle Bailey.

The collection comprises mostly of anatomical illustrations of humans and animals by professional medical illustrators and medical practioners, but there is a good number of caricatures. Many of the images depict 20th century surgical prodedures; there are also physiological illustrations included in the collection. Most items are drawn in pencil on illustration paper with cardboard backing. In addition, there are some drawings in notepads and on tracing paper.

This collection consists of a letter from Foster to his former student, Harrison B. Kinney, around 1950 describing his brief tenure as a writer for the Disney studio, including the workings of the studio and the personality and leadership of Walt Disney.

This collection contains the trial drawings for an illustrated alphabet book by the Reverend George Liddell Johnston. The book, bound in crushed red morocco by C. & C. McLeish sometime in the early twentieth century, contains the inlaid drawings and manuscript pages. The book begins with two calligraphic frontispieces, one titled "The Envelope" with an angel holding a brush and canvas. This image was likely the front panel of an envelope that stored the contents before binding. Then follows three pen and ink title pages with letters in the Victorian grotesque tradition, eight manuscript leaves with limericks for each letter, twenty-six calligraphic leaves of alphabet limericks in pencil and pen, twelve watercolors, and forty-six total drawings. The bulk of the manuscript is the drawings and watercolors that illustrate the alphabet, some referencing the subject of the limericks and others alternative subjects. These are humorous and often satirical images. These include critiques of religious figures like cardinals and the Pope and more everyday situations and people like a quack, a statesman, a Yankee, an older man entranced by a younger woman, and an angry wife, among other characters. Devils and demons are frequent figures in the illustrations. A number of the drawings that appear here also appear in a privately printed book by the same title. Johnston made a few copies of this book for his friends and family.

This collection consists of certificates, citations, commissions, and similar documentation associated with VMI alumni, faculty, staff, or VMI as a whole. The collection does not include VMI diplomas or literary society certificates, which are filed separately.
