This collection contains a Washington and Lee banner that David Low, a Washington and Lee alumnus, took with him aboard the U.S. Space Shuttle, Endeavour for 9 days, 23 hours, and 45 minutes. There is also a framed photographic print of the Atlantis space shuttle that Low presented to W&L President James Delane Wilson. Low autographed the photograph's mat.

The collection covers the September 12, 1993 launch of the space shuttle Discovery, on which the College of William and Mary put into orbit school artifacts in celebration of its tercentennial anniversary. After the space flight Captain Kenneth S. Reightler of NASA visited the College to speak and present artifacts from the Tercentenary Package's space shuttle journey.

This small collection contains primarily a series of photographs of Dr. Stuart McCorkle throughout his adult life, ranging from informal prints to professionally made portraits. In addition, the collection originally included copies of books authored by McCorkle and have since been transferred within the Special Collections department. Of great note is the typescript of his autobiography, which provides in great detail, insight into his life and opinion of political matters such as city planning, bureaucracy, and local government.

Of interest is information about the history of African American life in Charlottesville including questions about the racial background of Queen Charlotte.
