This collection contains a steel printing plate mounted on a block for the dust jacket of Dr. Carter G. Woodson's "African Heroes and Heroines," published by Woodson's publishing imprint Associated Publishers, Inc. in 1939. The cover illustration was created by Lois Mailou Jones (1905-1998), who illustrated many projects of Woodson, and the block has her name, "Lois M. Jones," in the plate's lower right corner.

This collection contains forty-one letters and manuscripts by American authors and publishers from the files of James R. Osgood & Co. and its successor Ticknor & Co assembled by Caroline Ticknor (1866-1937), daughter of Benjamin Holt Ticknor (1842-1914) and granddaughter of William Davis Ticknor (1810-1864).

This collection contains twenty-six leaves of Charles Dudley Warmer's manuscript of "The Study" for "The Editor's Study" in Harper's Bazaar. The manuscript contains the first two parts of Warner's essay published in Volume 95, October 1897 [pp. 798-800]. The text appears identical to the published version. It is likely that this was the manuscript submitted to Harper's – though there are minor authorial corrections throughout.

This collection of James Kirke Paulding MSS 7223, -a,-b,-c,-d contains manuscripts of the poems, "The Backwoodsman," and "Where are Women Angels?" There are also typed manuscripts of two poems by John Quincy Adams and one of an untitled poem to Adams by James Kirke Paulding. Also included is a fragment of "The Rights of War and Peace."

The Jan Karon papers (66 cubic feet; 1918-2018) contain Mitford book typescripts and galleys; materials related to Ms. Karon's publishing career and her relationship with her agent and publisher; letters and fan mail from readers, arranged by month and year only; memorabilia; professional and personal correspondence; reviews and press publicity; research related to Karon's novels; files related to charitable organizations and boards; architectural drawings of Esmont Farm; files and journals related to the purchase, restoration, and running of historic Esmont Farm, Albemarle County, Virginia, by Karon; personal and family papers; files pertaining to Jan Karon's advertising career, particularly the North Carolina tourism campaign for McKinney and Silver; photographs; artifacts; audiovisual material; and born-digital material, including disks and hard drives.

The papers in this Clifton Waller Barret Collection of John William Deforest papers contain a manuscript of a short poem beginning "You ask a thought . . . " There are letters, 1855-1856, from John William DeForest to publishers Dix and Edwards hich discuss the publication and format of "Oriental acquaintance" and send a receipt for "Experiences in Mount Lebanon." A letter, 1876, to Mrs. [Johnson T.?] Platt doubts that Frances Burney was only sixteen when she wrote "Evelina" and gives his opinion on the intellectual maturation of women novelists. One of DeForest's calling cards is included.

The papers of author, editor, and anthologist, Louise Price Collier Willcox (1865-1929), 1877-1933, chiefly consist of literary correspondence, personal correspondence, and family correspondence, mostly with her immediate family.

This collection contains a letter from Dufief about discounts for his 4th edition of "Nature Displayed in Her Mode of Teaching Language to Man" to the bookselling firm Beers & Howe in New Haven, Connecticut. This letter was written to find subscriptions for a new printing, and a fourth edition was published in 1820.It is folded for mailing with the address and return address on verso.

This collection consists of correspondence and ephemera from the estate of Randolph Huntington. Much of the correspondence pertains in some way to the history, breeding, raising, racing, or showing of the Arabian horse in the United States.

This collection contains the papers of Susan Richard Shreve (b. 1939), a prominent American author, a professor of Creative Writing at George Mason University and a co-founder of the PEN/Faulkner Foundation (1985) for which she served as a board member and chairman.
