Special Collections includes manuscript collections, rare books, and the University Archives, as well as state, local and historical maps and photographs. This collection contains an undated fundraising handbill for the National Association of Ministers' Wives, listing Mrs. E. C. Bouey as president and Mrs. W. L. Ransome as secretary. The association was founded by Elizabeth C. Bouey, who served as its president from its founding in 1941 until her death in 1957, and it is now called International Association of Ministers' Wives and Ministers' Widows, Inc.

Randolph family (Ulysses Randolph, 1920-2011)
This collection contains photographs, papers, and artifacts related to the musical groups of the Randolph family of Roanoke, Virginia. The photographs feature publicity photos of the family bands and an album with private family photos. The papers include business cards, band contracts, programs and promotional posters, a newspaper article, a calendar of show dates, and copyright paperwork for the song "What it is". Also included is Alfred's stage costume with multiple bow tie options.

Black Organizations Council
The Black Organizations Council (BOC) was founded on the Virginia Tech campus in 1985, and is the umbrella and resource body for the Black student organizations. According to the organization, BOC serves to ensure the betterment of the Black community through providing a unified voice for the Black community in a university population where the Black community lacks adequate representation. The collection includes documents, photos, VHS tapes, and posters.

This collection contains one "free man of color" registration for Robert Chirver or Chirves, a resident of Petersburg, Virginia. Signed and dated May 4, 1841, at Petersburg, this form was proof of Chirver's status as a free man.

This collection contains the papers of Robert Younger Norman, a singer, laborer, and veteran. Most materials relate to the Pilgrim Gospel Singers, a Black gospel choir active in Virginia from 1951 through the 1970s, of which Norman was a member.
