This collection consists of one photograph album featuring both black and white and sepia toned gelatin silver photographs of an unidentified African American family from circa 1910-1960. There is one colored photograph of a dog sitting on a sofa. From some of the captions, it is possible that the family was from the New Jersey area. The photographs are not in chronological order. Inserted inside the album is an unidentified man's graduation photograph taken by the Sarony studio in Philadelphia.

Some individuals were photographed inside of a photographer's studio. The images vary in size and format and range in date from circa 1850s-1945. Each item has a description at the file level.

Papers of Katherine G. Johnson. Includes assorted artifacts, family photographs, awards, honorary degrees, correspondence, and other material regarding the career and life of Katherine G. Johnson. The bulk of the collection is focused on material relating to the release of the 2016 film Hidden Figures while other material details Katherine Johnson's early life and her family history. Such material includes news clippings, magazine articles, and fan mail to Katherine G. Johnson.

The collection includes papers written by Born during the course of his attendance at William & Mary, mainly for English classes. There is also correspondence from 1985 and loose pages from a photo album believed to have been assembled by Born, while a student at William & Mary. The contents are primarily photographs of campus and Williamsburg area from the 1926-1927. Additional photographs relate to life in rural, early twentieth century Virginia, the Newport News Shipyard, Carter's Grove Plantation, and the myths of Blackbeard. Also includes some photographs of locations outside of Williamsburg such as Mount Vernon and New York City.

Contains three handwritten diaries that once belonged to Meta J. Chapman of Pennsylvania. The first diary is for the year 1929, and contains information about the weather, family gatherings, birthdays, playing bridge, and other activities of daily life. There is an entry for everyday from January 1 through May 10, but the rest of the diary is blank. The second diary is for the year 1930, and is a travel diary of a trip Meta took through Virginia, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania from September 6 through September 20. The diary also includes mounted as well as look black and white photographs of the places she visited, including the Gettysburg battlefield, the Virginia Military Institute, family and friends, and Richmond, Virginia. Excerpts from this diary can be seen in the box list below. The third diary is a five year diary from 1931 through 1935. Each day has its on page but there are five entries, one for each year on that specific day. There are entries for most of the years from January through May, but then there are more sporatic entries for the rest of the months. Most of the entries detail the weather and various household chores. This diary also contains loose sheets of paper with some diary entries on them, as well as a loose negative. This diary has a lock and contains the original key with it.

This collection consists of papers relating to Nydrie and Algoma, consisting chiefly of photographs and articles pertaining to the family homes of the Logan and Forsyth families. Included is a scrapbook of articles by Lily Logan Morrill.This collection contains material from around 1880, when the homes were built, to about 1960, when the Forsyth family, which owned "Nydrie" at the time, started a discussion about what to do with the house due to its dilapidated conditions. This collection focuses on two families, the Logans who owned "Algoma," and the Forsyths who owned "Nydrie."

The racial and ethnic ephemera collection contains various materials regarding race, ethnicity, and racism in the United States. The collection includes papers and items that promote racial prejudice and propaganda. The collection also contains items and papers that exemplify the fight for civil and equal rights. African Americans are the most broadly represented group in the collection. Other ethnic groups include Native Americans, Asian Americans, Jewish Americans, Muslim Americans, and Cuban Americans. Ku Klux Klan pamphlets and anti-immigration publications are also included. Through this collection, the American struggle of racism and prejudice is realized.
