This collection contains a class-composite photograph documenting the graduating class of 1950 from the Sewing Program of the Booker T. Washington Night School in Norfolk, Virginia. The composite features formal studio portrait vignettes of more than seventy graduates, nearly all African American women, arranged in rows around a central image of the Booker T. Washington High School building and photographs of faculty and administrators. Each student is identified by name under their image. The image was taken by Modern Arts Studio, a professional photo studio on Church Street in Norfolk.

This collection contains one printed map of Porters, an unincorporated community in Albemarle County, Virginia, that was founded circa 1875. The map was created by University of Virginia student Jeida Brooks in Spring 2024 for "Mapping Black Landscapes," AMST 3710, a course taught by Dr. Lisa Goff. Brooks researched the Porters community and worked with community members to identify schools, churches, cemeteries, businesses, stores, and recreation sites vital to its African American population.

This collection contains a manuscript account book kept by Reverend Robert Brannum Robinson during his tenure as Secretary and Treasurer of the William McKinley Normal and Industrial School in Alexandria, Virginia. The School was originally founded in 1894 by Robert Brannum Robinson and his brother Magnus Robinson and re-incorporated in honor of William McKinley 1902. It offered boys' and girls' normal, primary, and industrial departments, a chapel, and a kindergarten program.
