Albemarle County (Va.) Affidavit of A.S. Brockenbrough, 1831 May 3. Brockenbrough's testimony pertains to wages paid for the preparation of building sites for the construction of University of Virginia dormitories and two hotels "on the West street." One of the men hired for the job of undertaking on the site claimed he was promised a higher rate of compensation than he was paid. Brockenbrough testifies he promised to pay the workers ten percent less than former prices given at the University of Virginia for construction work.

Albemarle County (Va.) affidavits pertaining to the military enlistment of Thomas Baber by Meriwether Lewis, 1798 Sep. The collection contains the affidavit of Susannah Baber stating that her son, age 17, was restrained of his liberty in the town of Charlottesville by Lewis under the pretense of his having enlisted as a soldier in the armies of the United States; a summons for Lewis to present Thomas Baber in court, and the affidavit of Lewis stating he enlisted Baber in the U.S. army.

Also included are documents from the Circuit Superior Court of Law and Chancery for Albemarle County.
