Ledger, 1860-1875, of S. G. Davis, physician, Amissville, Rappahannock County, Virginia, which includes remedies for consumption, rheumatism, and cholera.

This collection of 3,098 pieces, dated about 1764-1916, consists of papers of a family of Smiths who lived at Smith's Cross Roads, Mecklenburg County, Virginia, and the Walker family who lived at Brunswick County, Virginia. Most of the papers are dated about 1860-1900. Some of the more interesting works include the following:

Personal and business correspondence of Harmon, Molly, John, and other members of the Snyder family; genealogical information on the Lantz and Snyder families; land grants, surveys and deeds for land in Barbour, Greenbrier, and Randolph counties, West Virginia; and poll and registration books for Randolph County. Included also is Harmon Snyder's daybook and diary, listing accounts for the years 1866-1896 and incidents of the Civil War.

Papers of the Southall family of Williamsburg, Va. including correspondence, 1828-1830, of Peyton Alexander Southall but mostly comprised of the legal correspondence, 1831-1851, of George Washington Southall and documents concerning lawsuits and civil proceedings in many Virginia counties and including account books, 1832-1846, of George Washington Southall. Prominent correspondents include Lemuel Jackson Bowden, Richard Coke, John Augustine Deneufville, Thomas Roderick Dew, George Frederick Holmes, James Alexander Seddon, Abel Parker Upshur and Henry Alexander Wise.

This collection contains an account book written during the Civil War by an unidentified person or persons. It consists of the day-to-day transactions and the numerous individuals that either boarded on, used the owner's land, or purchased various products and services from the unnamed proprietor, including $600 for a land bond in 1862.
