Prominent correspondents include Lemuel Jackson Bowden, Richard Coke, John Augustine Deneufville, Thomas Roderick Dew, George Frederick Holmes, James Alexander Seddon, Abel Parker Upshur and Henry Alexander Wise.

Papers of John and Lewis Stuart, 1785-1823, and of Samuel Price, 1830-1879. Price's papers include mainly legal and business correspondence related to Price's law practice in Lewisburg, West Virginia. The Stuart papers concern settlement in Greenbrier County, land transactions, and family matters. The collection includes lawyer's fee books and account books for general merchandise, ca.1830-1880. There are also printed booklets of court briefs, pamphlets concerning "the slavery question" and railroads, and several Congressional documents.

Gift of the brothers and sisters of Thomas Ray Dille, lawyer, historian, and genealogist of Morgantown W.Va. This collection contains the family histories of the Dille, David Evans, and John Evans families, as well as the Ray, Stewart, McFarland, and Tennant families.

Papers of a Morgantown attorney, genealogist, and antiquarian. There are several series of office files relating to Dille's law practice, and extensive correspondence regarding his historical and genealogical studies. Families for which there are genealogical compilations include Dille, Ray, Stewart, McFarland, Tennant, David Evans, and John Evans. Monongalia County birth and death records; cemetery readings; copies of wills and indexes of will books; names in real estate and appraisement books; Monongalia Academy and Woodburn Female Seminary ledgers, 1858; correspondence; legal papers; newspaper clippings; family papers; and an account book of J.R. Also includes some personal correspondence received by Dille, like mailed promotional/advertising booklets and copies of "The Mohawk Magazine."

Papers, 1716-1944, of the John Tyler family of "Sherwood Forest," Charles City County, Va. The collection contains correspondence, 1818-1862, of John Tyler concerning politics, War of 1812 claims, presidential election of 1840, land purchases in western Virginia, Kentucky and Illinois, "Sherwood Forest," business matters and his family.
