1872 November 16 -- Alexandria, Egypt, Alexander Reynolds to sister continuing to describe the family trip to Europe; comments on numerous American tourists in Europe, "seeking pleasure, doubtless most of them shoddy, who have grown fat upon the plundering of the Southern people. The respectible [sic] people of the U.S. are too poor to visit Europe..."; description of the improvements in Alexandria and Cairo.
