Tennis Racket of Giles Buckner Cooke

Scope and content:

One wooden tennis racket with metal strings that once belonged to Giles Buckner Cooke, class of 1923 at the College of William and Mary. The racket was made by A.G. Spalding and Brothers in the United States. The model of the racket is a Forspun Gut. The strings are made of metal and are green and gold in color. The name "Ann Dorsey Cooke" is written in pencil on the head of the racket. There is a green label attached to the racket with "COOKE" inscribed on it. The shaft of the racket is inscribed with "Spalding Nassau No. 6". The racket is approximately 27 in. x 8.75 in. The racket is in fair condition with some damage to the head of the racket and the grip of the handle is starting to come off. Gift of Anna Dorsey Cooke Allison, class of 1959. Located in Rec Obj S3.
