Scope and Contents

One copper U.S. large cent that features the Coronet Head style that was made from 1816-1839. The penny was found on the campus of William and Mary, next to the library on January 15, 1929. The obverse of the coin has a woman's head with 13 stars surrounding her. The reverse shows a wreath with "One Cent" written in the middle of the wreath. Surrounding the wreath are the words "United States of America." The coin is approximately 1.0625in. in diameter and is in poor condition with signs of wear and corrosion. Gift of Eugene B. Hallan.
