Scope and Contents
One white cotton cloth banner that was created by the Wren Society, a secret society at William and Mary, to congratulate students graduating from the College. "Congrats" is spray painted in gold cursive script across the top of the banner. Below that is spray painted "Grads" in gold. Below "Congrats" and to the right of "Grads" is painted "VeA" in magenta. Beneath "VeA" is a depiction of the Wren Building. It has a purple outline with two windows also outlined in purple. The inside of the outline is filled with gold paint. "18" is painted in magenta on the inside of the first window, and "32" is painted in magenta on the inside of the second window. There are two approximately 2.5in. slits at the top on the left and right of the banner where gold ribbons have been place to hold up the banner when it was hung in the Wren Courtyard. The banner is in good condition. It measures approximately 5ft. 5.5in (length) x3ft.10in. (width). There are two 0.125in. brown stains next to the "C" and above the "O" in "Congrats." There is a 1.5in. tear in the center at the top of the banner. There is also an approximately 1.5in. magenta stain in the window with "32" painted in it and a 1.75in. gold spray paint stain at the bottom of the banner. Gift of the Wren Society. UA 2013.182.03
