Scope and Contents

One white canvass banner that was created by the Wren Society, a secret society at William and Mary, to welcome new students to the College. At the top of the banner, "Welcome" is written in black. Below "Welcome" is a royal crown in black and a black cross above it. Below the crown is a black and gold William and Mary cypher. The year 1832, the year the society was founded at the College, is written at the bottom in gold. The words and symbols were painted onto the banner. The banner is approximately 75in. x 60 5/8in. and is in fair condition. Located in Textiles S1 SS5. UA 2010.234
