William and Mary Tercentenary Quilt

Scope and content:

One quilt made by Karen Koerner Haff, class of 1963, to commemorate the 300th anniversary of the College of William and Mary. The quilt features important people, buildings, and symbols associated with William and Mary. The sides of the quilt are appliqued portraits of King William, Queen Mary, Thomas Jefferson, James Monroe, John Tyler, and John Marshall. The bottom half of the quilt contains the historic campus with the Wren building, the Brafferton, and the President's House. Other depictions of the College include Swem Library, Phi Beta Kappa Hall, the College mace, the College seal, and the statue of Lord Botetourt. The quilt is in good condition. Located in Textiles S1 SS8. UA 2010.115
