Printing block with a metal plate. The metal plate features a relief of an eighteenth century house in the background with a large garden in the foreground. In the garden a man in eighteenth century clothes works the garden with a hoe. A woman and two little girls, all in eighteenth century dresses, are depicted working in the garden as well. "195" is written and underlined in pencil on the right edge of the block. The printing block was made by Charles W. Smith possibly to be used in the 1933 Colonial Echo. The printing block is 5.5in. (width) x 7.125in. (length) and is in good condition. There are two splits running the length of the block on the back as well as a 5.25in. brown stain coming from the top edge of the block. There is also a 6.75in. white tissue substance on the back near the left edge and a 2.125in. pencil line near the right edge. The bottom edge of the printing block has nine small holes, a 0.5in. gray stain above the holes, a 0.5in. split near the right edge and a 0.5in. crack in the center with a brown stain surrounding it.
