6 August 1858. L.S. Joynes to Hugh B. Grigsby, [Norfolk, Va.]. Will nominate his brother, Edward S. Joynes, for the Professorship in Greek and German at the College of William and Mary; requests Grigsby to recommend his brother. 3 pp.
16 August 1858. Thomas R. Joynes to Hugh Blair Grigsby. Presents his son, Edward S. Joynes, as a candidate for the Professorship in Greek and German; lists his son's qualifications, suggests Governor Wise could testify to his son's merit; requests Grigsby to recommend his son. 2 pp.
11 December 1867. President B[enjamin] S. Ewell of William and Mary College to Hugh Blair Grigsby, L.L.D. Requests Grigsby's presence at the next meeting of the Building Committee; will try to schedule Mr. Tazewell Taylor to meet Grigsby at the same time; otherwise, he will send Grigsby questions through the mail regarding rebuilding and the Grammar School; has been busy preparing for his daughter's approaching wedding. 1 p.
