Has been in a state of excitement for eight to ten days sue to the advance of the Yankees but all are safe; General Lee has left with the first of and second corps of the Army of Northern Virginia; gives description of the Battle of Culpper [sic]; many feel "our little Adjutant" [Williams] is smitten with someone, and that he is a gallant little fellow; Davy [slave] is well and suits me.
