Scope and Contents Informs him that Governor Floyd is anxiously seeking the nomination from the Staunton Convention; was approached by P.H. Aylitt, an editor of the Richmond Examiner, with an offer to allow him (ACG) to choose the Board of Directors for the Lunatic Asylum in Williamsburg if he could secure the vote for Floyd in Williamsburg, York County, and James City County; was offered head of the Board of Directors under this plan; has decided to go with this offer and asks whom should be appointed to the Board; has "a rather difficult game to play" as Johnson also wants his support for Governor; would like to support Judge Christian for judge of their circuit; would like to run for legislature as "there is nothing like office to give a man influence 'with the powers that be'"; afraid that Segar will defeat him; had $200 stolen from him and asks that he send $16 or $20 to him at Staunton.
