The letter from Lucy Baytop, Springfield, Gloucester, Virginia to "My Dear Child", Henrietta Fitzhugh, no place, no date, details the food and decorations of the Christmas parties; everyone is sick as a result of the hectic schedule of parties and bad weather; slaughtered 16 hogs and one cow; longs for past Christmases when the children were young; related family news; asks if "Mr. Fitzhugh" moves to Texas, "beg him to try to get Mr. Baytop in the notion too."
