Background

Scope and content:

The collection includes memorandum and newsletters from the Office of Student Life to officers of Greek organizations at Old Dominion University detailing current issues, activities, deadlines, and other information.

Biographical / historical:

Greek organizations were first officially recognized in 1966, four years after the school gained independence from the College of William and Mary and three years before it became Old Dominion University. In 1978, the Student Life office was formed and hired graduate students to be liaisons between the university and the Greek organizations. The Student Life office became the Student Affairs department in 1979.
