Stereoscopic view of the east front of the Mansion at Mount Vernon taken from the southeast lawn, circa 1874. The porch and balustrade have been removed for repairs. Mounted on yellow board. Photographer's imprint on the front of the cardboard mount reads, J. F. Jarvis, Publisher and Dealer, Stereoscopic Views. 135 Pa. Ave. Washington D. C. A label affixed to the reverse of the mount reads: Mount Vernon. Once the home and now the resting place of the immortal Washington. The Tomb contains the remains of Washington and his wife, Martha. The Mansion contains many historical relics, among which may be mentioned the Key of the Bastile (sp.), presented by LaFayette, portions of the military and personal furniture of General Washington, No. J. F. Jarvis, Photo.
