Albumen print adhered to a cabinet card mount. View of the fence line and west gate to the Mount Vernon estate including the (north) porters' lodge. A group of people are standing at the entrance, two women and two men. The verso inlcudes a printed text, 'From Gardner's Gallery, 921 Penn. Ave., Washington, D. C." Also on verso is a handwritten note, "Outhouse at Mount Vernon gate through which Gen. Washington last rode on Horseback. Purchased by M. M. Dillon at Gen. W. former residence, 1874."
