Cabinet card of the Washington bedchamber with a view of the bedstead and furnishings. Text printed directly onto the reverse of the cardboard mount reads: Washington's Room and Bed on Which He Died. Copyright Luke C. Dillon, Photographer to Mount Vernon, Office at Pullman's Gallery, 935 Penn. Avenue, Washington, D. C. Typed note from Thomas M. Galey has been adhered to the reverse, 'Mt. Vernon Society: This photograph was made back in the 70's I believe. It may serve some sort of useful purpose in your spendid work.' The note misdated the photograph as 'made back in the 70's…' Rather the photograph was made between 1884-1894 during the period when Luke C. Dillon served as the authorized photographer for the Mount Vernon Ladies' Association.
