Physical description:

Black and white photograph on carte de visite mount of Washington's tomb at Mount Vernon. A man, with top hat removed, stands to the left of the gated entrance while a young boy holding a basket stands to the right of the entrance. Wooden planks are used to create a walkway to approach the tomb. There is some loss at center of photograph. A handwritten caption on reverse reads: Tomb of Washington - Mount Vernon Virginia - 2nd Mo. 18th. 1863.
