Black and white press photograph of the Prince of Wales and U. S. Vice President Thomas Marshall departing Mount Vernon by car. The two men light up cigars in the open top vehicle. A label adhered to the reverse reads: Smoking is not allowed on any part of the grounds at Mt. Vernon, so the Prince of Wales waited patiently for his smoke until he and Vice President Marshall were seated in their automobile for the return to Washington. Then the Prince produced his monogrammed cigar case and passed one to the Vice President. Fastidious smokers will notice from the photograph that neither used a cigar cutter. Also on the reverse is the photographer's stamp: Copyright by Harris Ewing. The above copyright line must be printed underneath each reproduction of this photograph, as required by law.
