Black and white sepia toned photograph of a white ash tree in the north grove on the east lawn. Text on back of photograph read, "View of trunk from south showing split caused by storm May 20, 1937. Tree taken down by Biller's crew. Professor Sargent listed this among the trees probably planted by Washington." The ice house along the north lane can be seen in the background.
