Black and white, horizontal copy photograph of the Mansion's central passage looking through to the little parlor. Text on reverse reads: "American women preserve nation's chief shrine. WP-15. Music played an important part in the life of the Mount Vernon household. The harpsichord, which Washington ordered from London, stnads today where it did when his beloved foster-daughter, Nellie Custis, played for him. Returned by Nellie's descendants, it was the first of a steadily growing collection of Washington memorabilia that the Mount Vernon Ladies' Association of the Union has acquired by gift, loan or purchase. 53-4831."
