Scope and content:

A.L.S. 2 pages. Mount Vernon. Bushrod reports that he commenced cleaning the ditch in his large meadow but after riding to the meadow he found all hands would be required to take care of the hay which he plans to finish during the week. He thanks his neighbor for his offer to do the ditch but thinks he has the power to do it with his own help. He plans to invest some money and wants to purchase a share in the Dismal Swamp, if the sum is too large he would like to buy the share on partnership, however, he prefers to do so alone. He says he will communicate his neighbor's hints to Bushrod Jr. about the road which he is sorry to hear has been so much neglected.
