Fairfax Washington writes regarding the recently-arrived mourning ring left to his deceased mother [Hannah Fairfax Washington] as legacy by George Washington -- he gives Lewis directions for having it delivered to him -- mentions also a miniature of the general, previously received, that the two items constitute the whole of the legacy left to his mother. Autograph letter signed, integral cover, docketed "The Receipt of his Mother's legacy," mounted.
