Print document, 1 page. An address from the Quakers from their annual meeting for Penn., New Jersey, Delaware, and western parts of Va. and Maryland. The Quakers are grateful for religious toleration and other American freedoms but state "... we can take no part in carrying on war on any occasion ... but are bound ... to lead quiet and peaceable lives ... " GW answers, in part, "...it is doing the ... Quakers no more than justice to say, that (except their declining to share with others the burthen of the common defence) there is no denomination among us who are more exemplary and useful citizens."
