A.L.S. 1 page. Berkeley City. Sends £35 in consignment of rent due by M. Whiting, tho he can hardly spare it--give Mr. McCray of Alexandria, the bearer, a receipt--"for the aforesaid rent due from Mr. Matthew Whiting for the year 1785." Autograph letter signed, integral cover, laminated, docketed by G.A.W., marked "Hand by Mr. M Cray." Name on original manuscript appears as "Ja. Crane". [Lists kinds of money sent in payment].
