Scope and content:

A.L.S. Washington. Proposal for work on their water supply. Examined Mount Vernon water supply - 3 sources of water for fire protection (steam pump at river, pump driven by horse power, a force and lift pump). Recommends digging a terra cotta cistern in yard or cellar with a force and lift pump with a second cistern in an outbuilding. Will cost $1240 but will protect all the buildings. Will give further information if the Regent desires.
