A.L. Draft. Dr. Hodge sent D.P. Brown's reply to Fourney attack, for which she is grateful. Criticism of MVLA in money lost by Devereux. At request of Regent she has resided at Mount Vernon for 5 mos. Have had many annoyances but heads of depts at Washington have been kindly and Confederates have same spirit--none on place since May 27. Federal soldiers constant visitors...perfect respect and propriety. Communications with Regent very irregular. ER-3, p. 254
