The Windy Cove Blowing Cave is located in Bath County, Virginia. The cave sits along the scenic Cowpasture River in the Millboro Springs region of Bath County, Virginia. The site is historically famous for being documented by Thomas Jefferson in his book Notes on the State of Virginia. He recorded that the limestone cave naturally vents a continuous, powerful current of cold air, which was strong enough to keep nearby weeds completely prostrated at a distance of 20 yards. While the natural limestone features and internal cave systems still run deep underground, the prominent roadside entrance Jefferson originally described was unfortunately buried and destroyed during local road construction projects over the years.
