Allen D. Evans was born and raised in Indiana and is a decorated veteran of World War II. He enlisted in the United States Army in December 1942 and served in Europe with the 76th Field Artillery Battalion. He was a Staff Sergeant in charge of the Fire Direction Center and saw action throughout the European Theater of Operations (ETO), including the battles at Remagen, Germany and Ardennes Forest, France.
