Biographical / historical:

Hobert V. Bodkin joined the United States Marine Corps in September 1942 and was assigned to the 1st Marine Division in March 1944. He went into combat during the invasion of Peleliu Island, Palau, and in April 1945 took part in the invasion of Okinawa, Japan.
