My dear Doctor,
Yours of the 9th instant has been received, but was not handed to me by Mr. [?]. If I see an opening for an army appointment for him, I will try and secure it but I fear that no such appointment will be secured without the recommendation of the Colonel or other officers of a regiment where his services may be desired. If he can secure such a recommendation it will most certainly secure the appointment. I am glad that he has come, and I will talk with Major Dabney respecting him, with the hope that the Major may be the means under God of increasing his usefulness.

For our prayer accept my warmest thanks, and I trust that you, and all our Christian people will with increased [?] with God implore his blessing upon our cause. He can give us victory, and crown us with complete success, and He alone can. My trust is in Him, and in Him along, and unto His name be all the glory for every success and every blessing.

Give my kindest regards to Mrs. White and all the family.

Your much attached friend,
T. J. Jackson
