Scope and content:

Materials from Joel Garreau's book "Edge City" dealing with Land Preservation. As edge cities grew in areas such as Northern Virginia, development threatened land that held significant historical value, such as the Civil War battlefield at Manassas. There was much controversy over the proposed construction of a shopping complex within the borders of Manassas National Battlefield Park.
