WRVA 35th Anniversary Celebration: Holiday in Hawaii, 19-25 November 1960

Scope and content:

Recordings of a series of broadcasts of "Holiday in Hawaii," the trip taken to Hawaii in celebration of WRVA's 35th anniversary. These recordings include Alden Aaroe, the trip's host, interviewing various people going on the trip before departing from Byrd Field, reporting on the flight across the country, discussing the group's arrival in Honolulu, talking with his wife, Edna, about the Kookie-Moo and Hawaiian cloth, and interviewing Mrs. John L. Pulley about her trip to the island of Kauai. Also includes the presentation of gifts representative of Virginia and the reading of a proclamation by Virginia Governor J. Lindsay Almond, Jr., from the oldest state in the Union to the newest state, and the receiving of the proclamation and gifts by the Lieutenant-Governor of Hawaii, James Kimo Kealoha (1908-1985). Lieutenant Governor Kealoha sends thanks to Governor Almond, the people of Virginia, and the trip's participants. The recordings of the presentation of the gifts, the reading of the proclamation by Governor Almond, and Lieutenant Governor Kealoha's statement on WRVA - 459 are duplicated on WRVA - 460.
