He graduated from Virginia Agricultural and Mechanical College and Polytechnic Institute (VPI) with a degree in mechanical engineering in 1912. Howard served in the United States Army during World War I. He  graduated as Captain from the United States Army Infantry School from a National Guard program in 1926 and was appointed to First Lieutenant in the Florida National Guard in 1927. According to the 1950 census, he lived in Houston, Textas, where he was an inspector for a manufacturer of oil field tools. He was an instructor of mathematics at VPI from 1955 to 1960.","Warren Howard first married Daisy Skipper on December 3, 1921, in Washington, D.C., and they divorced in 1929 while living in Dade County, Florida. He next married Mary Louise Monfort (1896-1938) on April 24, 1931, at Elizabeth City, North Carolina. Finally, Howard married Vada Juanita Winfrey (1905-1980) in the 1940s.
