Their years of attendance are as follows: Francis W.\n         Page (1839-1841); Carter H. Page (1843-1844); Frederick W.\n         Page (1843-1845, 1848); Mann Page, Jr. (1848-1851); William\n         Wilmer Page (1853-1857); Thomas W. Page (1854-1855); and R.\n         Channing Moore Page (1860-1866).","Frederick W. Page (1826-1913) was appointed to the office\n         of Assistant Librarian of the University of Virginia during\n         the session of 1876-1877. Page became the Librarian in 1881\n         and also assumed the duties of the secretary of the Faculty.\n         In 1882, he was displaced by the Board of Readjusters and\n         succeeded by William A. Winston. In July of 1891, Page\n         regained his position as the University of Virginia Librarian\n         which he retained until his retirement in 1904. During 1865-1867, she\n         expressed her opinions concerning the effects of the Civil War\n         on blacks. On November 6, 1865, she mentions a \"free negro\n         settlement\" in \n         Cobham, and that Dr. Eastham has offered\n         work to them. On January 15, 1866, she writes of the\n         conditions and work relationships with blacks after the war.\n         And, in her letters of March 9 and 19, and June 15, 1867, she\n         expresses her displeasure at blacks receiving the right to\n         vote while her husband and son, Alfred Landon, have been\n         disenfranchised.","During 1860, \n         William Cabell Rives, Jr., sailed on the\n         S.S. Arabic, and wrote often to his wife, Grace, about life on\n         the ship, the hardships and dangers, and the activities of\n         fellow passengers. His letters are filled with gossip and\n         descriptions of officers, sailors, and other passengers on\n         board. In April and May of 1860, he writes of travelling in \n         London, visiting the Speaker's Gallery in\n         the House of Commons and hearing Sir \n         Edward Bulwer-Lytton speak, and meeting\n         members of the Royal Family. He gives lengthy descriptions of\n         the Queen, Prince Albert, Princess Alice, and Princess\n         Mary.","In 1863 and 1864, \n         Francis Robert Riveswrote to his brother,\n         William Cabell, from \n         New Yorkconcerning Civil War news as\n         reported there. His letters of January 10 and 12 mention the\n         \"great columns of Burnside,\" \n         William S. In his August 3, 1864, letter he mentions a\n         letter from Grant's headquarters stating that two corps are\n         embarking for \n         Washingtonand \n         Baltimoreand of word that vessels are\n         proceeding to \n         Fort Monroe. During 1865-1867, she\n         expressed her opinions concerning the effects of the Civil War\n         on blacks. On November 6, 1865, she mentions a \"free negro\n         settlement\" in \n         Cobham, and that Dr. Eastham has offered\n         work to them. On January 15, 1866, she writes of the\n         conditions and work relationships with blacks after the war.\n         And, in her letters of March 9 and 19, and June 15, 1867, she\n         expresses her displeasure at blacks receiving the right to\n         vote while her husband and son, Alfred Landon, have been\n         disenfranchised.","During 1860, \n         William Cabell Rives, Jr., sailed on the\n         S.S. Arabic, and wrote often to his wife, Grace, about life on\n         the ship, the hardships and dangers, and the activities of\n         fellow passengers. His letters are filled with gossip and\n         descriptions of officers, sailors, and other passengers on\n         board. In April and May of 1860, he writes of travelling in \n         London, visiting the Speaker's Gallery in\n         the House of Commons and hearing Sir \n         Edward Bulwer-Lytton speak, and meeting\n         members of the Royal Family. He gives lengthy descriptions of\n         the Queen, Prince Albert, Princess Alice, and Princess\n         Mary.","In 1863 and 1864, \n         Francis Robert Riveswrote to his brother,\n         William Cabell, from \n         New Yorkconcerning Civil War news as\n         reported there. His letters of January 10 and 12 mention the\n         \"great columns of Burnside,\" \n         William S. Rosecransand the battle of \n         Murfreesboro, an expedition against \n         Wilmington, N.C., a federal naval\n         disaster at \n         Galveston, the performances of the\n         cruiser, Alabama, and \n         England's reluctance to intervene on the\n         Southern side. In his August 3, 1864, letter he mentions a\n         letter from Grant's headquarters stating that two corps are\n         embarking for \n         Washingtonand \n         Baltimoreand of word that vessels are\n         proceeding to \n         Fort Monroe.
