In March of 1944, he joined the Navy V-5 Program as Commissioned Ensign USNR – Air Navigator. From August 1945 to July 1946 he was an Air Navigator in the Pacific.  In 1946, he joined the US Naval Reserve. From 1959-1962,  he was Commanding Officer, Naval Electronics Division 5-2.
