Wine was a farmer and served as a minister and elder in the Flat Rock Church of the Brethren. Jacob David Wine and John Eugene Wine acted as executors to their father's estate after his death in 1923. D. was active in community and civic affairs including schools, roads, temperance, and local government. J. D. Wine, along with his father D. P. C. served as a civilian tailor at Fort Belvoir in the tailor shop and dry cleaners, later becoming its manager. C. was an accomplished and talented cane maker and served his community as a charter member of the Woodstock Rescue Squad and as a member of the Woodstock United Methodist Church.
